| Dog sports are growing at a
phenomenal rate. They include, but are not limited to, the
following: agility, flyball, obedience, rally obedience, disc toss,
schutzund, French ring sport, barrel racing, scent hurdles, herding, lure
coursing, skijoring, sledding, dancing, freestyle, hunting, and more. What do you need to participate? A healthy dog, and a desire to learn and have fun with your pet. Most dogs take to dog sport naturally since it encompasses much of what dogs love to do -- jump, run through and over stuff, catch, fetch, and please their handlers. All breeds can find a sport to excel in from Huskies to hounds, Bichons to border collies, Chihuahua's to Cairn terriers. Mixed breeds are also welcome in most sports, and do exceptionally well. The mainstays of Huckleberry Hounds Dog Sports Association currently are agility and obedience. As an organization we are dedicated to bringing in experts in other dog sports so that dog owners may be introduced to them. Watch for seminars, working clinics, practice sessions, and lectures in and around the Central Okanagan. If you are not having fun, then you aren't taking classes with Huckleberry Hounds Dog Sports Association! Our objectives are: happy dogs, happy handlers, and a safe environment to learn in. Every dog learns at its own speed and dogs have different motivations. We work closely with you and your dog to create a willing, working team. Any sport can have its risks, so we promote safety at every step. Our instructors and assistants are dog lovers too so always put your dog's health and well being first. |
